My Hubpage Earnings

64

By Destrier

My husband has encouraged me to partake in Hubpages. I did open an account and publish one lens last year, but didn't do much with it until recently. I do have a separate Adsense account and I must admit, I didn't check on it all that much. To be honest, I could go months without checking. I got the account after numerous attempts at doing websites, applying and getting rejected. It wasn't until I did a blogger blog that I finally got accepted onto the program. But my earnings for that little endeavour still amounts to a big fat zero. I'm not sure if the blog is still up. I've forgotten where it is. I don't think I could remember the password if I tried. No great loss.

Around May last year I published my first lens. And it was lonely for many many months. I did zero promotion. I have no intention actually to promote or 'build backlinks' to anything I publish. It will sink or swim by its own merits. Even if I write about something I love and it has an audience of none its not going to bother me. My husband is an active hubber he gets into it a lot more than I ever can. And admittedly hes good at it. My earnings won't rival his but it could be an excellent guide for other newbies who want to gentlely dip their toes into making money online without having a mental breakdown in the meantime.

Between Tuesday, 13 May 2008 to Wednesday, 31 December 2008 I made $0.00 in earnings. And that's zero in Australian dollars so given the exchange rate the zero will be even less in USD.

January didn't do any better, but then something happened. I think it's because I made an effort to have more than one hub! I'll post the months and corresponding amounts in the table capsule, which my husband thinks is the best invention since sliced bread.

Thanks for that. I have only just started hubbing. I am not doing it for the money as quite frankly I am sure I could earn a lot more doing any number of things - but I have been curious about how much I might make. Even if it is enough to buy a good book every now and then that will be OK. How much does your husband make and how many hubs does he have? Is he doing a lot better?

Thanks, I think it's the Australian way of life. Most of us are fairly laid back. :)

Half way through the month and I've made $10.88 so far!

You can see near christmas my traffic really dropped. But still, I haven't published any hubs in two months (I've been busy with other things) and I haven't made any effort what so ever to get visitors to my hubs. Yet 50+ people a day are currently finding my hubs.

I've just relaunched my blogger blog but I won't be putting the revenue figures in these charts.

I've got my own Amazon Associates account now, previously I had been using my husbands. It might mean a drop in his Amazon earnings! Oh well! :D But it will give me a better idea of how my own hubs are performing as there is no way to track where a sale comes from exactly.

The blogger blog I relaunched is mentioned in my intro as the one that I had forgotten where it was! I found it! The last post made was December 6, 2006!

April, best month so far!

Looks like May is on the way to beating it.

9 days into this month and I've already earned more than my highest month in 2009. Hopefully by the end of 2010 I'm getting a payout on a monthly basis (in Australia the minimum threshold is $150 to qualify for payout).

Hey...this hub is inspiring...I've got a similar approach so far...I'm not so much into promoting my hubs n writing hubs abt only topics that I really am into...but eventually lets see how things shape up...,maybe all is not lost for folks like us. :-)

Thank you Ritu. By the sounds of it we are approaching it the same way.

And for the month of May I managed to cross over the $100 milestone!

A marked drop in earnings for June. But still slightly more than the previous high point for the year.

Well this is encouraging to read...I do find with Hubpages, the more I participate with other's hubs the more success I have...however, my monthly earnings are only in the 0.17 range! However, to see your charts of earnings is encouraging! How are you doing lately?
